raw food recipes

Raw food doesn't mean all you eat are carrots and apples. In fact, there is a whole world of delicious options made from amazing raw foods. There are even restaurants specialising in raw food menus! This week we're focusing on living a natural lifestyle, inside and out, so have invited the incredible Kemi Nekvapil (a raw food specialist) to share her top 4 raw power foods for winter.

4 Raw Winter Superfoods

To be honest all fruits and veggies are super foods to me, but every season there are some superstars; mother earth planned it this way, a very clever lady.

All the fruits and veggies available right now are the ones we should be consuming the most of. They are packed with all the cold busting nutrients and build up our immunity against catching every single bug going around.

So here are my top 4 this Winter;

  • Kale – the super green – full of vitamin C
  • Citrus – the super vitamin C
  • Ginger – the blood warmer
  • Celery  - the water stick – full of vitamin C

Here are 2 recipes to get these superstars into your body all at once, real fast food:

GINGER-GREEN LEMONADE

1 cup kale

½ organic lemon, with peel

2 apples

2 sticks celery

A knob of ginger

Juice all of the ingredients together and enjoy.

BUGS AT BAY SMOOTHIE

1-2 cups of kale

1 large pear, soft

1 celery stick

½ organic lemon, with pith

Knob of ginger

Pinch of chili (fresh is best)

Blend in a powerful blender and enjoy!

If you consume either of these drinks on a regular basis, you are less likely to catch everything that is going around. If you do get a bug, generally it is not too harsh or does not stick around for too long. Oh, there’s also the fact that your energy levels will soar!

Happy eating!

I know it’d be super healthy for me, but melted cheese is something I think I like too much…
